2015 Season of Silvano Toti Globe Theatre starts on 2nd with a cult: “Midsummer Night’s Dream”, with the memorable Riccardo Cavallo as director. The show will be on scene until July 12th, 9:15 pm. It’s a story which keeps on exciting and making dream, by telling the short time of happiness with a light undertone of melancholy. The play was written in occasion of a wedding and it represents, like a Chinese box, an enchanted world where caprice and despotism rule. Different languages intertwine: the one of the fairies ( alternate to free verse), songs and nursery rhyme, and the one of the artisans (where the everyday-prose is interrupted by awkward parody of refined verse).

“It’s a wish for a happy awakening – explained the director – But is it actually like that? Three universes are in contrast : the one of reality ( Teseo, Ippolita and court’s one ), the universe of theatre ( artisans getting ready for the representation ) and the one of fantasy ( the one of the spirits, of the shadows ). But dreams sometimes can be nightmares : the tension between Oberon and Tatiana who reveals a terrible disturbance during the flow of seasons, the relationship between Teseo and Ippolita, the vanquisher and his victim, the brutality of the insults exchanged between lovers under the control of Puck’s magic”

Outside the play there are the bride, the bridegroom and the public, inside the place there are the couples, Teseo and Ippolita, Tatiana and Oberon and the four lovers; in the inner work of the play there are players, Priamo and Tisibe’s sequence of events. In this enchanted world Oberon’s caprice and despotism rule who, through Puck plays with mortal and Tatiana, to impose his control. That violence used by Teseo on Ippolita is carried out on Tatiana, the same violence that Egeo wants to carry out on his daughter compelling her to make a marriage that he rejects. We have to keep in mind the sequence of exchanges between lovers. It starts with Ermia who loves Lisandro, it goes on with Elena who fell in love with Demetrio, Lisandro with Elena, Elena with Demetrio and Demetrio with Ermia. It turns, thanks to Puck’s magic, to the crazy circle in which Ermia chases Lisandro, Lisandro chases Elena, Elena Demetrio and Demetrio Ermia. That’s not the end. At the beginning both of the guys strived for Ermia’s love, but now they have left her, they love Elena, but only during the 8th  act, after a new Puck’s intervention, the place will finish with the creation of two couples.
