Eliseo Theatre , Anton Chechov’s “Ivanov” on scene : the moment where the language goes over reflection

2125

trad. Ilsa Mancini

Filippo Dini, actor and director, has sinked “Ivanov” into a tragic, absurd and ridiculous dimension; a piece produced by “Theatre Due Foundation” and “Stabile Theatre of Genova”: a mise-en-scene performed by 9 actors (Filippo Dini e Sara Bertelà, Nicola Pannelli, Gianluca Gobbi, Orietta Notari, Valeria Angelozzi, Ivan Zerbinati, Ilaria Falini, Fulvio Pepe ) who realize a tableau of an ending humanity, of a society on the brink of collapse which feels the apocalypse’s arrival, that will soon destroy the known reality ( in only 30 years the revolution will burst ).

Filippo Dini’s “Ivanov” deflate the belief that the first of the main theatral Chechov’s representation is a boring and dusty text. Boredom is certainly one of the strongest argument of this comedy, infact, in his litterary production the author has been mainly absorbed by this topic: hes has indeed described the various ways used by man to escape from boredom.

The text has its new translation made by Danilo Macri, scenes and costumes are created by Laura Benzi, lights are designed by Pasquale Mari and music is written by Arturo Annecchino.

Throught the imagine of the useless man, a recurring character is russian litterature, who can’t succeed in pushing his heart over the world’s paralysis and his will over the breakdown, “Ivanov” tells about the crisis and the deterioration of an entire society and of an entire period, which seems to be gone crazy because of the virus grown in Ivanov himself. A sickness which “can be lethal – as Filippo Dina affirmed – which could lead to the loss of each fountdamental ability to the death of passion, of enthusiasm : because of this virus our best virtues could waste away to make us fall ill. It can push our ability of dreaming a happier and a more peaceful life, of listening people we love, it can kill our desire of understanding humans’ limits and the feeling of loving unconditionally”.
