ControCorente “Roma in Canto” is a tribute to Rome and Lazio’s most known and almost unknown musical and poetic traditional melodies and arias.
ControCorente’s intention is not to explore or exhaust the whole and multifaceted selection of people’s spirit movements or the various shades of its “feeling”. The event goes through the cheerful joy of life facts and their melancholic consciousness using an off-color and licentious teasing, sarcasm and cynicism.
It is a personal path that wants people to rediscover the Roman and the middle-Italian popular cultural heritage.
The original trio, that was born ten years ago, has slowly become bigger thanks to the arrival of a mandolin, a bass and drums. This enlarged the expressive possibilities of the band and gave life to a sound that spaces among folk, world and rock music. Anyway, this original interpretation does not want to betray the most authentic and genuine spirit of Rome, turning the audience into a part of it.
