Shakespeare, the Globe comes back with “King Lear”

1831

Trad. Elena Pompei

After the fiery reaction of the roman public towards “A midsummer’s night dream”, the globe theater comes back with an already solid and evaluated representation: “King Lear”. The show, staging from the 16th of July to August 21st at 9.15 pm, is directed by Daniele Salvo, who faces this boundless scripture with a new company, entirely set up of young actors. Lear, Brittany ‘s legendary sovereign, embodies the tragedy of any father: the incapability to understand their own sons, blind in front of their flattery. An analysis of Power and how it affects human mind: a huge who blinds the sovereign and politician’s eyes up to the total affective isolation. The set design is basic because the action is handed over an interior level. Thunders and rain represented on stage are the metaphor of a troubled emotionality: madness, innocence, energy, determination, all youth’s characteristics. The decorative elements are nearly absent, according to the will of the director who explains the choice by saying he desires a return to the essential, necessary for the best output of the production.
