Six musicals, two events, a new circus and an homage to Pier Paolo Pasolini. Brancaccio Theatre of Rome starts again with a new  schedule  full of appointments, organised from October to May, when the Season will be closed by ‘Grease’. The season starts, instead, with ‘Cabaret’ directed by Saverio Marconi.

The performance, on scene from October 7th, during these last twenty years has been represented only during the 2006/2007 Season in Milan and in Rome. As we all know title comes from Bob Fosse’s movie of 1972, which legitimised Lisa Minnelli as a musical icon, is set in Berlin during 30’s, before the Third Rech rise. On 21st October ‘Priscilla – La regina del deserto’ will be proposed again as a successful musical, which sold more than 4 million of tickets in all over the world, and that’s signed by Simon Phillips. The script, with its message on family, with a soundtrack made of twenty-five international hits such as ‘I will survive’, ‘Material girl’ and ‘It’s raining men’, offers also moments of amusement.

From 10th December ‘Sister Act’ will be on scene, it’s a new musical produces by the artistic director od Brancaccio theatre ( Alessandro Longobardi ) – who’s particularly critical against the institution for inattention to the private theatrical initiative – taken from the movie of 1992, which made Whoopi Goldberg popular, thanks to role of Deloris van Cartier/Suora Maria Claretta. The play, made of a very passionate soundtrack, will guide the public through the atmosphere of a nightspot in Philadelphia, in 70’s, and monastery’s rigour where Suor Maria will overhelm nuns’ life.

2016 Season will be opened by the performance of ‘Burattino senza fili – il musical’, on scene from February 18th, combined to Edoardo Bennato’s songs and guided by Maurizio Colombi the director.

The starting point of the play produced by Longobardi, is the namesake Neapolitan singer-songwriter, a CD of 1978 made of current texts. ‘Rapunzel’ Italian idea seen by 50 thousand iwers and shown in Brancaccio theater during the 2014/2015 Season, it will be back on Avril 6th. The rewritten tale of Grimm’s brothers has gained a resounfing success, becoming a ‘classic musical’, for families, enriched by the presence of Lorella Cucarrini ( Gothel’s mother). From the never-ending fight between good and evil, through the yearning of vanities of vacuous objects and enthusiasm for simple things, to the play which launched the musical-mania, 18 years ago in italy. From May 4th ‘Grease’ will be back on scene, directed by Marconi, whose choreography has been created by Gillian Bruce, is an applause generator. Taken from the movie that joined John Travolta to Olivia Newton-John in 1978, the script is actually placed in 1957 with a ‘beauty leaning’ and its hairstyles are still modern and current.
